Blending the sounds of dark wave, slush wave, P.P.M, and deeptraxx, "Soul Surfer 1999" is the creative project behind the genius mind of Chicago based producer Garrett Mick. Heavily inspired by acts such as Ahero, Simple Syrup, Vangoe, George Clanton, Esprit and the larger Chicago Vaporwave (otherwise known as "Zero" or "Vaporwave Zero" scene. "Parallel Skies (B-sides)" is the follow up to the single "1999" on all streaming platforms now. Mick blends the slow, bass driven, ambient song structure of vaporwave with subtle influences from the late 90s intelligent drum and bass scene from producers like Dj Rap, LTJ Bukem, Inner-Vations, Nookie, and more. A graceful combination of ambience, slow drawn-out synthesizers, heavy drums, and vocal samples / chops alongside a bedroom-esque production style graces the listener with a warm embrace, taking you on a journey across the vast plains of the self and provides the soundtrack to your next interdimensional meditation session.
